CAAT Meets ICAO Secretary General to Strengthen Relations and Reaffirm Commitment to Global Aviation Standards

September 26, 2025, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), together with the CAAT executive team, held high level talks with Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), at ICAO Headquarters in Montreal. Mr. Tao Ma, ICAO Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, also joined the meeting.

During the discussions, Mr. Salazar expressed his appreciation to Thailand as the host country of the ICAO Asia and Pacific Regional Office and for its continued support of ICAO’s work. He recognized Thailand for achieving excellent results in the Universal Safety Oversight Audit ProgrammeContinuous Monitoring Approach (USOAP-CMA) and conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Universal Security Audit Programme Continuous Monitoring Approach(USAP-CMA).

Mr. Salazar also congratulated Thailand on being selected by ICAO to host the second Advanced Air Mobility Symposium (AAM 2026), scheduled to take place from 30 November to 4 December 2026 in Bangkok. He emphasized that this major ICAO event will bring together representatives from Member States and global aviation industry leaders, further enhancing Thailand’s role as a regional hub and leader in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).

On this occasion, the ICAO Secretary General also invited Thailand to support ICAO’s Transformational Objectives Fit for Future, designed to make ICAO a modern, adaptable, and responsive organization for all Member States. CAAT reaffirmed its commitment to aligning with ICAO standards and guidance to further advance civil aviation development at both the regional and global levels.
