CAAT and IndiGo Discuss Route Expansion to Regional Thai Destinations to Attract More Indian Tourists

September 26, 2025, Mr. R. K. Singh, Special Director, and Mr. Rajan Malhotra, Vice President of Aeropolitical and Industry Affairs from IndiGo, requested a meeting with Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), during the 42nd Session of the ICAO Assembly, held at ICAO Headquarters in Montreal, Canada.

IndiGo expressed its intention to expand flight routes to Thailand, including destinations such as Udon Thani, Surat Thani, Hat Yai, Chiang Rai, and other airports. The airline also conveyed its appreciation to CAAT for consistently facilitating IndiGo’s operations to Thailand.

Currently, IndiGo operates a fleet of over 400 aircraft. The proposed expansion of routes will help promote tourism to both primary and secondary cities in Thailand, in addition to existing main routes. This initiative also supports the government’s tourism promotion policy, with more than 2 million Indian tourists traveling to Thailand annually.
