CAAT urges air operators to strictly verify passengers’ COEs before boarding to Thailand
Effective from 10 May 2021, Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has temporarily suspended the issuance of Certificate of Entry (COE) to foreigners from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. This action followed a case of a Thai citizen returned from Pakistan found to be infected with the Indian COVID-19 variant while staying in the state quarantine.
To complement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’action, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), has urged the air operators to strictly verify each passenger’s COE before boarding an aircraft at the origin, especially from the three specified countries. CAAT has already issued this notification to all operators since 4 May 2021 to follow the announcement issue earlier.
If a passenger is found without a COE, the operators shall be held accountable for the passenger. Those who are rejected from entering the country will be repatriating back to the country of origin per the operator expense. The operator also needs to take care of the passenger while waiting for further action.
CAAT, therefore, urges the airlines to strictly follow the announcementIf fail to comply with, CAAT will then proceed with the regulations of operating flights into Thailand.
