CAAT Meets with the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Civil Aviation

October 28, 2025, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and Mr.Saran Benjanirat, Deputy Director of Aviation Economic Development, warmly welcomed H.E. Edirisinghe Arachchilage Sriyani Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, accompanied by Mrs. Thilini B. Ihalage, Minister Counsellor/Head of Chancery, and Mrs. D.M. Shiwanthi Nirmala Abeyrathne, Minister Counsellor (Commercial), on the occasion of their visit to discuss ways to strengthen civil aviation cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka.

During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in civil aviation, including promoting technical collaboration, capacity building, and the exchange of best practices. The two sides also discussed a proposal to arrange a meeting between Hon. Janith Ruwan Kodituwakku, Minister of Post and Civil Aviation of Sri Lanka, and CAAT during his visit to Bangkok, Thailand, from 4 to 6 November 2025, in connection with his participation in a meeting at the ICAO Asia and Pacific Regional Office (ICAO APAC).

In addition, the discussion covered cooperation in aviation security, particularly on the prevention of drug trafficking through civil aviation. Both sides agreed on the importance of information sharing and strengthening collaborative efforts to ensure that aviation operations are conducted in accordance with international standards and to promote sustainable aviation safety between the two countries.
