On February 26, 2026, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), accompanied by a CAAT delegation, held a meeting with Mr. Koichi Miyazawa, Director General of the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB), and the JCAB delegation.
The discussion focused on the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) regulatory framework across various dimensions, including standards for Type Certification (Airworthiness), licensing, and flight operational standards for AAM. Furthermore, CAAT and JCAB also discussed on low-level airspace management strategies to ensure operational safety for AAM, while exploring the economic potential of the “Low-Altitude Economy.”
During the session, Air Chief Marshal Manat also proposed for future collaborations and mutual support. The Key areas of interest included the development and enforcement of regulations, data exchange for personnel development, the sharing of technical expertise, and the establishment of low-level airspace management guidelines. This dialogue plays a pivotal role in positioning Thailand as a regional AAM hub, driving economic growth and fostering the domestic AAM industry.
Additionally, the Director General of CAAT extended a formal invitation to the Director General of JCAB to attend The Second Advanced Air Mobility Symposium 2026 (AAM 2026) which Thailand has been selected by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to host this prestigious event, which is scheduled during December 1-3, 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand.
