On 10–11 March 2026, Mr. Sarun Benjanirat, Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), in his capacity as Head of the Thai Delegation, held discussions with Ms. Olga Shapkova, Deputy Director of the Department of Aviation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus, who led the Belarusian delegation. The meeting focused on the development of a bilateral Air Services Agreement (ASA) between the two countries.
On this occasion, both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an initial framework for aviation cooperation.
The development of the agreement is a collaborative effort among the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agreement aims to establish a framework for aviation cooperation between Thailand and the Republic of Belarus and to create opportunities for airlines of both countries to operate scheduled air services between the two nations in the future.
Such cooperation is expected to support the expansion of air connectivity between Thailand and Belarus, while also strengthening economic, trade, investment, and tourism relations between the two countries.
At present, the Republic of Belarus has a national carrier, Belavia, which operates international routes. Since early 2026, Belavia has also been operating charter flights to Thailand, with destinations including Phuket International Airport and U-Tapao International Airport.
