Thailand and Hong Kong Advance New Air Services Agreement to Strengthen Bilateral Aviation Cooperation

On 30–31 March 2026, Mr. Sarun Benjanirat, Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), led the Thai delegation, alongside Mr. Wong Chun-to, Principal Assistant Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, who led the Hong Kong delegation, in bilateral air services negotiations held in Hong Kong.

During the meeting, both sides discussed and reached mutual understanding on the development of a new Air Services Agreement to replace the existing one, ensuring that the framework is modernized and aligned with the evolving landscape of the aviation industry.

The new agreement is expected to play a key role in strengthening the regulatory and operational framework governing air services between Thailand and Hong Kong, enhancing transparency, efficiency, and clarity in aviation management. It will also support the expansion of air connectivity and promote closer economic, trade, and tourism ties through a more robust and sustainable air transport network.

The discussions reflect the shared commitment of both parties to advancing civil aviation cooperation in line with international standards, while enhancing regional air connectivity and supporting the continued growth of the aviation sector.
