Korea Coast Guard Seeks CAAT’s Expertise in Preparing for ICAO USOAP Audit on SAR

On 8 May 2026, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), led by Ms. Tawika Huayhongtong, Manager of the Air Navigation Service (ANS) Standards Department, together with the ANS team, welcomed Mr. Woo Seop Lee and Mr. Su Ho Jeon, representatives from the Korea Coast Guard of the Republic of Korea, at the CAAT headquarters.

The visit aimed to exchange views and seek guidance from CAAT in preparation for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP), particularly in the area of Search and Rescue (SAR).

The Korea Coast Guard sought advice from Thailand in recognition of the country’s progress and capability in civil aviation safety oversight, following Thailand’s successful ICAO audit results, particularly in the Air Navigation Services (ANS) area. The outcome reflects the strength of Thailand’s regulatory oversight system, operational standards, and inter-agency coordination mechanisms in accordance with international standards.

During the discussion, CAAT shared its experience, best practices, and approaches in preparing for ICAO audits, including SAR management and coordination frameworks among relevant agencies to support effective and internationally compliant search and rescue operations.

The meeting reflects the confidence of international aviation-related organizations in Thailand’s aviation safety oversight capabilities and reinforces CAAT’s role as a recognized civil aviation regulator at both regional and international levels through continuous knowledge sharing and aviation safety cooperation.
