On 21 August 2026, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), accompanied by Mr. Chanin Kanhirun, Member of the Civil Aviation Commission (CAB) and Advisor to the CAAT Supervisory Board, led a CAAT delegation in a meeting with Ms. Najjsiri Nimyizhune, Deputy Consul-General and Acting Consul-General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu. The meeting focused on exchanging views on ways to promote aviation and investment cooperation between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China, particularly in encouraging businesses and investors from Sichuan Province to explore investment and business opportunities in Thailand’s aviation sector.
During the meeting, the Consulate provided information on the investment potential and opportunities in Sichuan Province, including its business environment, high-potential industries, and local enterprises interested in expanding their investments and business operations overseas. Such information is expected to support stronger linkages between businesses in Sichuan Province and Thailand.
The discussion also focused on opportunities to promote cooperation in future aviation industries, particularly electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), and other industries related to Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). These emerging technologies are expected to play an increasingly important role in future transportation systems and economic development.
Both sides exchanged information on potential eVTOL and UAS operators and explored opportunities to strengthen business linkages and facilitate concrete investment and cooperation between businesses from Sichuan Province and Thailand. Such cooperation could also contribute to building stronger networks in technology, innovation, and investment between relevant stakeholders in both countries.
The meeting reflects CAAT’s commitment to strengthening aviation cooperation between Thailand and China, while promoting investment and technological linkages in future aviation industries. In particular, cooperation in eVTOL and UAS is expected to contribute to the development of Advanced Air Mobility and create new economic opportunities for Thailand.
The initiative is also in line with the Prime Minister’s policy of promoting economic development and closer economic ties between Thailand and China, attracting foreign investment, and advancing cooperation in technology and innovation to enhance Thailand’s competitiveness and support sustainable economic growth.
