On 7 September 2026, during the 61st Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA/61) in Malaysia, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), together with Mr. Tao Ma, Regional Director of the International Civil Aviation Organization Asia and Pacific (ICAO APAC) Office, met with Mr. Toshiyuki Onuma, President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), to exchange views on aviation policy and cooperation in advancing civil aviation development across the region.
During the meeting, the ICAO Council President expressed his appreciation to Thailand for its continued support of ICAO’s mission, including its contributions to policy initiatives and technical cooperation. He also commended Thailand’s proactive role in advancing civil aviation development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Thai delegation provided an update on Thailand’s readiness to host the ICAO Second Advanced Air Mobility Symposium 2026, scheduled to take place from 1–3 December 2026 in Bangkok. Preparations are progressing as planned, with Thailand ready to welcome policymakers, regulators, aircraft manufacturers, and aviation experts from around the world to exchange perspectives and help shape the future direction of the aviation industry. The meeting also discussed progress on Thailand’s support for the enhancement of the ICAO Asia and Pacific Regional Office, with the aim of providing an environment conducive to ICAO’s work and activities in the region.
CAAT reaffirmed its commitment to continuously supporting ICAO’s mission, both as Thailand’s civil aviation regulatory authority and as a key partner of ICAO. CAAT stands ready to further contribute to policy development, international standards, and technical cooperation to advance aviation safety, sustainability, and innovation, while strengthening Thailand’s role and participation in civil aviation at both the regional and global levels.
