On 8 September 2026, during the 61st Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA/61) in Malaysia, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), together with the Thai delegation, held discussions with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), led by Ms. Liang Nan, Deputy Administrator of CAAC. The meeting followed up on the outcomes of the CAAT Director General’s visit to the People’s Republic of China and aimed to further advance civil aviation cooperation between Thailand and China in a concrete and practical manner.
Both sides reviewed progress on the Memorandum of Understanding on Technical Cooperation in Aeronautical Engineering and Airworthiness, which is currently undergoing Thailand’s internal process. They also discussed opportunities to further expand technical cooperation, exchange knowledge and experience between the two authorities, and develop areas of collaboration that could contribute to enhancing civil aviation standards in both countries.
The two sides also exchanged views on the development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), as well as potential cooperation on aviation environmental initiatives and the promotion of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). These efforts aim to reduce the environmental impact of aviation while preparing for emerging aviation technologies and new forms of air mobility and supporting the sustainable development of the aviation industry.
On this occasion, CAAT invited CAAC to participate in the ICAO Second Advanced Air Mobility Symposium 2026 (AAM 2026), to be hosted by Thailand from 1–3 December 2026 in Bangkok. CAAT also informed CAAC of Thailand’s plan to establish a Thai aviation representative office in Montréal, with the aim of strengthening Thailand’s participation and cooperation with ICAO at both the policy and technical levels.
CAAT reaffirmed its commitment to continuing close cooperation with CAAC in aviation safety and standards, technical collaboration, knowledge exchange, as well as the development of AAM and environmentally sustainable aviation. These efforts will support the continued development of the civil aviation systems of both countries and further strengthen practical and long-term aviation cooperation between Thailand and China.น
