CAAT and the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa Host “THAILAND Reception” for Diplomatic Representatives from 52 Countries, Highlighting Thailand’s Readiness for the ICAO Council

On 4 November 2026, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa, hosted the “THAILAND Reception” at The Rideau Club in Ottawa, Canada. The event brought together ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from 52 countries across five continents, with diplomatic missions based in Canada. It aimed to highlight Thailand’s role, vision, and readiness as a candidate for election to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), while seeking support from ICAO Member States.

The event commenced with welcome remarks by H.E. Mr. Darm Boontham, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, who presented Thailand’s vision. Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of CAAT, then delivered the opening remarks, highlighting Thailand’s readiness and its commitment to supporting ICAO’s mission. Guests also viewed a promotional video presenting Thailand’s candidacy for the ICAO Council, followed by a reception and networking session to strengthen diplomatic relations and exchange perspectives.

The reception underscored Thailand’s commitment to contributing its civil aviation experience and capabilities to the international aviation community, particularly in aviation safety, aviation security, human resource development, and international cooperation to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the aviation sector. Thailand also reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive aviation development in line with ICAO’s No Country Left Behind (NCLB) initiative.

During the event, CAAT representatives engaged with ambassadors and diplomatic delegates to foster a deeper understanding of Thailand’s role and proposed contributions to ICAO. These discussions also provided opportunities to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in civil aviation between Thailand and ICAO Member States.

CAAT remains committed to strengthening international partnerships and actively participating in global civil aviation initiatives. The “THAILAND Reception” in Ottawa formed part of Thailand’s ongoing efforts to communicate its readiness and engage with the international community regarding its candidacy for election to the ICAO
