Application for Alternative Method of Compliance (AMOC) to an (Airworthiness Directive (AD)
Introduction
An Alternative Method of Compliance (AMOC) is an alternative means, other than the one specified in an Airworthiness Directive (AD), to address an unsafe condition on products, parts, or appliances. An AMOC must provide a level of safety equivalent to that restored by compliance with the original AD. AMOCs may be issued for, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
- Alternative modifications
- Alternative inspection procedures
- Alternative maintenance intervals or procedures
- Specific operating procedures or limitations
- An extension of compliance time
Any person intending to demonstrate compliance with an AD using an AMOC, instead of the method specified in the AD, must submit the proposed AMOC to the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand for review and approval prior to implementation.

- Intention Letter
- Completed application for Alternate Methods of Compliance to an AD Form
- For CAAT AD;
- Substantiating data to demonstrate the equivalent level of safety to the AD, approved by the design holder of the aircraft, component, or modifications or repairs, as applicable and
- Any additional information requested by CAAT.
- For foreign AD;
- In case the AMOC involves other alternative methods, evidence that the AMOC is approved by the issuing State of the foreign AD applicable to the aircraft, component, or modifications or repairs; or
- In case the AMOC involves only an extension of compliance time, the applicant shall submit:
- evidence that the AMOC is approved by the issuing State of the foreign AD applicable to the aircraft, component, or modifications or repairs; or
- an acceptable justification, including:
- substantiating data issued from the applicable design holder which demonstrates equivalent level of safety to the AD; and
- evidence that this extension is not in conflict with the applicable requirements of the State of Design; and
- an appropriate reason from the applicant, justifying why the extension is required.
Procedure
- Application Submission
The applicant submits the application along with supporting documents to CAAT. - Application Review
The application package will be reviewed by the assigned staff to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. - Preparation of Package
The certificate package will be prepared and submitted to DG for approval. - Approval Process
The approval letter is sign upon satisfactory evidence of compliance with applicable regulations. - Inform Approval
The applicant is informed of the approval and receives the AMOC Approval Letter.
AMOC Approval Letter Fee
Issuance the AMOC Approval Letter is free.
