Noise Certificate

A Noise Certificate serves as evidence to demonstrate that a Thai registered aircraft complies with the applicable environmental requirements specified in ICAO Annex 16 Volume1 and Amendment to Annex 16 of Convention on International Civil Aviation 1944.

An aerial work aircraft or an aircraft permitted under special conditions prescribed by the DG, does not require a Noise Certificate.

Reference Regulations

Application and required documents

The applicant for Noise Certification shall complete and submit application with supporting documents as listed below:

  • Intention Letter
  • Completed application form
    • The application for a private aircraft must be signed by the aircraft owner, or under a Power of Attorney (POA)
    • The application for an AOC aircraft must be signed by the AOC holder, as the possessor
  • Copy of the C of R or an application for a C of R if the aircraft has not yet been registered
  • Data sheet issued by the State of Design or Aircraft Manufacturer to certify that the aircraft complies with applicable Noise Standards (ICAO Annex 16 Volume 1) such as Type Certificate Data Sheet for Noise or Noise Characteristic Data Sheet
  • Records of any modifications essential to meet the certificated noise level, including modifications or repairs which might affect the noise levels
  • In case of Noise Certificate is loss or damaged, the applicant shall submit the application for Replacement of a Noise Certificate

Procedure

  1. Application Submission
    • The aircraft owner or possessor submits the application for Noise Certificate including all required supporting documents to CAAT.
  2. Application Review
    • The assigned staff verifies that the application package complies with CAAT Requirement No. 98.
  3. Reissuance or Replacement of a Noise Certificate Fee Invoice Issuance
    • Upon completion of the application review, staff will notify the applicant of any necessary fees and process payment. After payment has been made, the applicant must provide evidence of payment to staff via email or other approved communication channels.
  4. Preparation of Package
    • The assigned staff prepares and submits the Noise Certification package to the Airworthiness and Aircraft Engineering Manager for approval.
  5. Approval Process
    • Airworthiness and Aircraft Engineering Manager review the package and sign the noise certificate for approval.
  6. Inform Approval
    • The assigned staff notifies the applicant of the approval and arrange for the delivery of the Noise Certificate.

Remark: The issuance of Noise Certificate or Reissuance or Replacement will be cancelled if additional documents found to be missing or incorrect within 30 days after CAAT request.

Approval Duration

  • Issuance of a Noise Certificate must be completed within 15 working days
  • Reissuance or Replacement of a Noise Certificate must be completed within 19 working days

Remark: Approval duration does not include applicant’s document correction period.

Noise Certification Fee

  • Issuance of Noise Certificate is free
  • Reissuance or Replacement of Noise Certificate fee is 1,000 Baht
