On 24 August 2026, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), led a delegation from CAAT in discussions with Mr. Xu Feng, Director General of CAAC-AAD, together with representatives from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), at the East China Regional Administration of CAAC in Shanghai, People\u2019s Republic of China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussions aimed to promote and strengthen cooperation between CAAT and CAAC in the field of Airworthiness Certification. The two sides exchanged information on their respective airworthiness certification systems, organizational structures, regulations, and regulatory oversight approaches. The meeting also included discussions on a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in Airworthiness Certification, which is intended to establish a framework for future cooperation between the two authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the meeting, CAAT exchanged information and experiences regarding China\u2019s airworthiness certification systems and processes, as well as regulatory approaches concerning the acceptance of relevant standards and certificates. The information gained will provide valuable input for CAAT in studying and adapting relevant approaches to the Thai context, particularly in preparing standards and processes for the acceptance of transport aircraft standards and the acceptance of COMAC aircraft type certificates issued by CAAC, as well as emerging aircraft technologies, including VTOL\/eVTOL aircraft, which are key components in the development of Thailand\u2019s Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cooperation between CAAT and CAAC reflects CAAT\u2019s commitment to enhancing Thailand\u2019s aviation regulatory standards to ensure that they remain modern, aligned with international standards, and capable of supporting the rapid development of aviation technologies. It also demonstrates CAAT\u2019s commitment to promoting the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and regulatory experience with aviation authorities from other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Furthermore, this cooperation is aligned with the Government\u2019s policy of promoting international cooperation, advancing future technologies and industries, and strengthening Thailand\u2019s competitiveness. It also supports the development of the aviation sector as an important mechanism for driving economic growth and national development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAAT remains committed to continuously strengthening cooperation with international aviation authorities to exchange knowledge and expertise, enhance aviation standards and regulatory systems, and prepare Thailand for the acceptance of transport aircraft standards and COMAC aircraft type certificates issued by CAAC, as well as emerging aviation technologies, particularly eVTOL aircraft and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). These efforts will support the development of Thailand\u2019s aviation industry and ensure that the country is well prepared to safely, sustainably, and effectively accommodate new innovations and technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n
