On 1 September 2026, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), through its Personnel Licensing Department (PEL), collaborated with Boeing to advance the development of Thailand\u2019s pilot training system by promoting the application of Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) in aviation training organizations across the country. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of pilot training by equipping pilots with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to meet the evolving needs of today\u2019s aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration focuses on supporting the development of the next generation of pilots through Boeing\u2019s CBTA knowledge and training resources. The CBTA approach emphasizes the development of competencies essential to pilot operations, encompassing both technical and behavioral skills, while enhancing the effectiveness of training and assessment to better prepare pilots for increasingly complex operational environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CAAT places continued emphasis on enhancing the standards and quality of aviation personnel training. The implementation of CBTA will enable pilot development to focus more effectively on competencies required for actual operations, while supporting aviation training organizations in Thailand in adopting a systematic training approach aligned with internationally recognized principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand for pilots in Southeast Asia is expected to continue growing, with approximately 66,000 new pilots projected to be required over the next 20 years. This outlook underscores the importance of strengthening aviation training systems and developing a skilled workforce capable of supporting the continued growth of the aviation industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative marks another important step in strengthening Thailand\u2019s aviation workforce. CAAT will continue to foster cooperation with industry stakeholders and relevant organizations to enhance the quality of aviation training, develop personnel with the appropriate competencies, and further strengthen Thailand\u2019s aviation safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
