{"id":217117,"date":"2026-09-09T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caat.or.th\/?post_type=caat_media&#038;p=217117"},"modified":"2026-09-09T13:17:57","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T06:17:57","slug":"217117","status":"publish","type":"caat_media","link":"https:\/\/www.caat.or.th\/en\/caat-media\/217117\/","title":{"rendered":"CAAT Advances Civil-Military Cooperation to Enhance Aviation Safety and the Safe and Efficient Use of Shared Airspace at DGCA\/61"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 8 September 2026, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), presented Thailand\u2019s Discussion Paper entitled \u201cStrengthening Civil-Military Aviation Safety Cooperation for Safe and Efficient Shared Airspace\u201d under the Aviation Safety agenda at the 61st Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation, Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA\/61) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Discussion Paper presented Thailand\u2019s approach to strengthening aviation safety cooperation among civil aviation authorities, military aviation authorities, and relevant government agencies in response to increasingly complex safety challenges. These include Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference, airspace-related incidents in border areas, unmanned aircraft operations, and State aircraft activities, all of which may have implications for civil aviation and require effective coordination among multiple authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed approach also supports the implementation of the State Safety Programme (SSP) by enabling relevant safety information to be shared and utilized at an appropriate level. This is intended to enhance common situational awareness, risk management, and safety-related decision-making at the State level, while respecting national security considerations and information confidentiality requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thailand\u2019s proposal received support from representatives of the United States, Canada, and Singapore, reflecting the importance of strengthening State-level cooperation mechanisms to address aviation safety issues arising from the shared use of airspace more effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through this initiative, CAAT continues to promote closer civil-military coordination as an important mechanism for enhancing aviation safety and supporting the safe and efficient use of shared airspace, particularly as the aviation environment becomes increasingly complex and requires closer cooperation across government authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"hero-carousel-with-thumbnail-navigation wp-block-meta-box-hero-carousel-with-thumbnail-navigation\" id=\"mb-block-90a1e5f1-71cf-466b-aea4-f1a61b9de307\">\n\t\t\t\t<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Hero Carousel With Thumbnail Navigation.
