{"id":218992,"date":"2026-10-06T11:59:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T04:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.caat.or.th\/?post_type=caat_media&#038;p=218992"},"modified":"2026-10-06T11:14:45","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T04:14:45","slug":"218992","status":"publish","type":"caat_media","link":"https:\/\/www.caat.or.th\/en\/caat-media\/218992\/","title":{"rendered":"CAAT Contributes to Global Runway Safety Standards as an Expert Member of the ICAO Runway Safety Advisory Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), through its Aerodrome Standards Department (AGA), is contributing to the ICAO Runway Safety Advisory Group (RSAG) as a runway safety expert, providing technical advice to the ICAO Secretariat and supporting the ICAO Runway Safety Programme, including the development and enhancement of global runway safety guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAAT\u2019s role includes providing technical input on runway safety activities, identifying safety gaps and key risk areas, contributing to the development and maintenance of relevant guidance materials, and supporting initiatives and best practices aimed at reducing runway-related accidents and incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of this role, CAAT participated in the first meeting of the ICAO Runway Safety Advisory Group (RSAG\/1), held on 1\u20132 October 2026 at EUROCONTROL Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting addressed key runway safety priorities that will contribute to the development of global guidance and safety measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key discussions included the review and development of the third edition of the Global Runway Safety Action Plan (GRSAP), building on the second edition, as well as enhancements to Global Runway Safety Data Analysis to strengthen data-driven risk analysis and safety management. The meeting also addressed awareness of risks associated with Abnormal Runway Contact and appropriate approaches to mitigating such risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting further considered industry knowledge and best practices, particularly the Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Excursions (GAPPRE) and the Global Action Plan for the Prevention of Runway Incursions (GAPPRI), to support global efforts to prevent runway excursions and incursions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAAT\u2019s participation in the ICAO Runway Safety Advisory Group reflects Thailand\u2019s contribution to the exchange of technical knowledge and experience and to the continued development of global runway safety practices.
