Captain Amornvaj Mansumitchai, President of the International Federation of Airline Pilots' Associations (IFALPA), paid his first official visit to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) on March 22nd, 2024.
He was welcomed by Mr. Suttipong Kongpool, Director General of CAAT, along with representatives from the Flight Operations Standards Department, Air Navigation Services Standards Department, and Secretariats of the National Runway Safety Subcommittee.
The visit aimed to establish a strong foundation for future cooperation and partnership between the two organizations. Both CAAT and IFALPA acknowledged their shared goals and ongoing efforts towards ensuring the safety of the aviation industry. Discussions during the visit focused on challenges faced by pilots, fatigue management and effective implementation of runway safety measures.
Mr. Gordon Margison, IFALPA Technical Director, and Mr. Nontawat Techawatanasarn, THAIPA Vice President – Technical, also participated in the meeting. They emphasized the importance of actively utilizing the outcomes of the visit to develop a substantive and effective partnership between CAAT and IFALPA.
Collaboration opportunities and the potential for developing a deeper partnership were among the key items on the agenda. Both CAAT and IFALPA look forward to future meetings and a greater level of coordination.
