CAAT Statement relating to the accidents of Boeing 737 MAX 8.
Due to the recent unfortunate events and concerns about the operation of 737 MAX 8, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) wishes to make the following statements:
1. There is no Boeing 737 Max 8 operating under Thai carriers. There is one Thai airline operating Boeing 737 MAX 9, which is a different type, with 3 aircraft. Since the 3 aircraft have been in services, CAAT has conducted the airworthiness surveillance as required.
2. Some countries have suspended the operation of Boeing 737 MAX 8 in order to wait for advice or response from Boeing as the aircraft manufacturer, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as the State of Design, given to the aircraft operators on the additional measures to be taken.
The safety of Thai aviation is always CAAT’s top priority, if there is any information necessary for prompt action, CAAT will not hesitate to take such action
