Registration of an Aircraft

Concerned Regulations

Applicability

          An application for aircraft registration can only be accepted if the Certificate of Registration holder is the owner or possessor of the aircraft. This can be either an individual person with Thai nationality or a juristic person with the principal place of business situated in Thailand, and for:

          a. An ordinary partnership, all partners must hold Thai nationality

          b. A limited partnership, all partners who jointly have unlimited liability must hold Thai nationality and at least 51 percent of the capital of such partnership must belong to natural persons who hold Thai nationality

          c. A limited company or public limited company, such company must not have bearer shares on issue, a majority of its directors must hold Thai nationality, and at least 51 percent of all shares must belong to one or any combination of the following persons:

                    ● Natural persons who hold Thai nationality

                    ● Ministries, sub-ministries, or Government Departments

                    ● Limited companies or public limited companies, of which Ministries, sub-Ministries, or Government Departments hold not less than 51 percent of all shares

                    ● Other juristic persons as prescribed in the Ministerial Regulations

          d. An Association, must be registered under Thai Laws and Association regulations must be approved by CAAT

Required Documentation

          1. Application for Certificate of Registration (CAAT-AIR-FM-CER-CR-202)
          2. Intention letter
          3. Documentation showing ownership or right of possession of the aircraft is complete (i.e. aircraft bill of sale, aircraft leasing agreement or purchase agreement)
          4. Confirmation of cancellation from the foreign registry or a certificate of non-registration from the State of aircraft manufacture
          5. Confirmation of reservation of registration mark (Form: CAAT-AIR-FM-CER-CR-201R) (If requested)
          6. The ownership identification documentation is as follows:

          7. Location of nationality and registration mark

           The nationality registration mark shall be painted on the aircraft or shall be affixed by any other means ensuring a similar degree of permanence. The marks shall be kept clean and visible at all times.

  • Lighter-than-air aircraft
    The marks shall appear either on the hull or on the stabilizer surfaces. For balloons, the marks shall appear in two places diametrically opposite. They shall be located near the maximum horizontal circumference of the balloon. The side marks shall be visible both from the sides and from the ground.
  • Heavier-than-air aircraft
    Wings – On heavier-than-air aircraft, the marks shall appear once on the lower surface of the wing structure. They shall be located on the left half of the lower surface of the wing structure unless they extend across the whole of the lower surface of the wing structure. So far as is possible, the marks shall be located equidistant from the leading and trailing edges of the wings. The tops of the letters and numbers shall be toward the leading edge of the wing.
    Fuselage – (or equivalent structure) and vertical tail surfaces. On heavier-than-air aircraft, the marks shall appear either on each side of the fuselage (or equivalent structure) between the wings and the tail surface or on the upper halves of the vertical tail surfaces. When located on a single vertical tail surface, they shall appear on both sides. When located on multivertical tail surfaces, they shall appear on the outboard sides of the outer surfaces.

          8. Measurements of nationality and registration marks

Lighter-than-air aircraft
          The height of the marks on lighter-than-air aircraft other than unmanned free balloons shall be at least 50 centimetres.

Heavier-than-air aircraft
         Wings – The height of the marks on the wings of heavier-than-air aircraft shall be at least 50 centimetres

Fuselage – (or equivalent structure) and vertical tail surfaces. The height of the marks on the fuselage (or equivalent structure) and on the vertical tail surfaces of heavier-than-air aircraft shall be at least 30 centimetres.

               9. Identification plate
 An aircraft shall carry an identification plate inscribed with at least its nationality and registration mark. The plate shall be made of fireproof metal or other fireproof material of suitable physical properties. The identification plate shall be secured to the aircraft in a prominent position near the main entrance.

             10. Evidence of removing 24-bit Aircraft Address from latest registration

             11. Irrevocable Deregistration Authorisation (If applicable)

Note:

  • If an applicant is unable to submit the required documents within 30 days, CAAT will reject the task and return the application package to the applicant.
  • The applicant must correct any findings that are identified during the inspection within an agreeable timeframe, but not more than 30 days. If the applicant fails to correct the findings, CAAT will reject the application
  • The applicant who hold Air Operating License must read conditions attached to the license before submit Certificate of Registration application
