เมื่อวันที่ 16 พฤษภาคม 2568 พลอากาศเอก มนัท ชวนะประยูร ผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานการบินพลเรือนแห่งประเทศไทย (CAAT) ได้รับเชิญจาก Mr.Brady Fredrickson ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายวางแผนและบริหารจัดการสิ่งแวดล้อม ท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติซอลต์เลกซิตี (Director of Planning & Environment, Salt Lake City International Airport) เพื่อหารือเกี่ยวกับแนวทางความร่วมมือด้านการบิน การบริหารจัดการท่าอากาศยาน และศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ในการเปิดเส้นทางบินตรง (Non-Stop) ระหว่างประเทศไทยกับสหรัฐอเมริกา นอกจากนี้ยังได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับการรับการตรวจสอบจาก ICAO ของสนามบิน ในด้าน Safety & Security ซึ่งประเทศไทยจะต้องรับการตรวจจาก ICAO ภายใต้โครงการตรวจสอบ Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) ในเดือนสิงหาคมที่จะถึงนี้
ท่าอากาศยานซอลต์เลกซิตี (Salt Lake City International Airport) ตั้งอยู่ในรัฐยูทาห์ เป็นหนึ่งในสนามบินหลักของฝั่งตะวันตกของสหรัฐอเมริกา มีบทบาทสำคัญในการเชื่อมโยงเครือข่ายการบินทั้งภายในประเทศและระหว่างประเทศ มีปริมาณผู้โดยสารสูงติดอันดับต้น ๆ ของสหรัฐฯ โดยเฉพาะในเส้นทางภายในประเทศ และเพิ่งผ่านการปรับปรุงครั้งใหญ่ภายใต้โครงการ “The New SLC” เพื่อสร้างอาคารผู้โดยสารและระบบโครงสร้างพื้นฐานใหม่ ให้ทันสมัยและรองรับผู้โดยสารเพิ่มขึ้นในอนาคต
การประชุมครั้งนี้ถือเป็นอีกหนึ่งก้าวสำคัญในการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือระหว่างหน่วยงานกำกับดูแลกิจการการบินของไทยกับท่าอากาศยานระดับนานาชาติของสหรัฐฯ โดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อสนับสนุนการเชื่อมโยงทางอากาศในอนาคต และยกระดับขีดความสามารถของอุตสาหกรรมการบินไทยในเวทีโลก

CAAT Engages with Salt Lake City International Airport to Enhance Aviation Cooperation and Explore Potential Direct Flights between Thailand and the United States

On May 16, 2025, Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), met with Mr. Brady Fredrickson, Director of Planning & Environment at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), to discuss potential collaboration in aviation development, airport management, and the feasibility of launching future non-stop flight services between Thailand and the United States.
During the meeting, both sides also exchanged insights on airport preparations for international safety and security audits, particularly with regard to assessments conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Thailand is scheduled to undergo an ICAO audit under the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) later in August this year.
Salt Lake City International Airport, located in Utah, is one of the key air hubs in the western United States. It plays a critical role in connecting domestic and international air routes and consistently ranks among the nation’s busiest airports for domestic travel. The airport recently underwent a major transformation under the “The New SLC” project, which included the construction of a new terminal complex and infrastructure upgrades to accommodate increasing passenger traffic with enhanced facilities.
This engagement marks a significant step forward in strengthening collaboration between Thailand’s civil aviation regulator and a leading U.S. international airport. It reflects CAAT’s proactive efforts to foster global partnerships, support future air connectivity, and enhance Thailand’s competitiveness in the global aviation industry.
